Laura’s Book Group
Laura’s Book Group has been meeting monthly for over two and a half years, in and around Edinburgh. There are eleven women and two men in the group, who travel from all over central Scotland to attend the meetings. Their ages range between late twenties and early thirties. They meet in each other’s houses, but they occasionally hold meetings in venues pertinent to the book’s theme. For example they met in the meeting room of a pub below the Forth Road Bridge when discussing The Thirty-Nine Steps.
Their occupations include an NHS Pharmacist, English teacher, Senior IT Engineer, Photographer, Management Consultant and Spiritual Advisor. Increasingly they share a genuine social friendship, heightened by time spent at their annual book awards, AGMs, attending book events together and literary themed social nights, such as Rabbie Burns' Night.

‘We are absolutely thrilled and exceptionally proud. It is still yet to sink in. To be the last Scottish Reading Group in the Penguin Reading Group Competition is beyond our wildest dreams and we are so chuffed to be flying the book worming flag for Scotland into the finals!
To anyone who is considering or would like to be involved in a reading group – go for it! It has added an entirely new dimension to the way all of us read, and formed a close friendship between us all in the process.'
